Lets talk about ME…well sort of.
“Me” in the sense that I am booking a night of music that I’m happy to announce is back for another round this spring and summer. Once again we can avoid that pesky weekend crowd in search of a good night of dancing and fun people. Pesky weekend crowd meaning that just turned 21 overly drunk, overly horny, selfie taking, bathroom puking, woo hooing before taking every single fireball shot kinda crowd. We can avoid it by enjoying a Thursday night listening to good diverse music with fun people. Forgive me if I sound judgemental but we all know that is what the weekends are like and rather than fight it, I avoid it and let everyone find happiness their own way. But what of the others left behind? Those that want to just have some drinks, take a shot with a simple “cheers!”, meet their pals on the dance floor and just want to move to the music until last call? Where can these people find solace? Thursdays at Main on Main 2941 Main St Santa Monica.
Sure Main is exactly all of those pesky things on the weekend complete with auto pilot style DJing for those only interested in hearing just the chorus and the hook of the very latest overly played Top 40 hits but find yourself there on a Thursday and you will be pleased to experience something better.
Thursdays are for the others.
DJs typically must play to fit the norm of what the general crowd wants but the DJs I book spin music they believe in and spend their personal time mixing with passion rather than simply hitting the play button. These DJs are inspired by the crowd dancing in front of them and the crowd dances inspired by the DJs.
<Sigh> what a beautiful thing.
Last spring/summer we featured a wide variety of DJs such as DJ ROD WADE, DJ COLECO, ROOM SERVICE (formally Fresh +Sunny), JUSTROC THE PARTY (break dance nights) CABRILLO & MC LOX, PIKEYS, ESO VENTURES & many others. They all filled the club with sounds in genres such as old-school and new school hip-hop, 80s/90s, Electro-Funk, Electronic, Nu-House & and all sorts of alternative dance.

This main street lounge becomes a cozy diverse place embracing a new vibe on a street desperate for something different. There is plenty to drink, plenty of space to dance and I’m sure you have plenty of friends to join you one of these nights coming up so join us for the kickoff night Thursday April 3rd with DJ COLECO. DJ EARCHUB will bring his “neo-vintage” electro-funk tunes on the 10th and then an exciting night on April 24th featuring several DJs from Scratch Academy Los Angeles, a fund-raiser event hosted by DJ MAASHA
So if you like to move your body to good music slip into your dance pants and join in. Check the calendar at www.mainonmain.com for information on the nights coming up.
